Unless anyone knows otherwise, it looks like "Dan C" is just trolling this
group. I can only find five posts under that nym, all of them appearing to
be wishing to cause some sort of offense.

Because they're showing a special "Meet The Incestors" on Dan C's family?
;o)
Oops, bit of a typo there...

18th December here in Norway (just north of Denmark), has rained for a
month. No snow. Last year we had 1-2 meters of snow (that's normal =)

Maybe. But it's just too utterly depressing. A few years ago when our
shuttle disintegrated on re-entry and was scattered over a lot of
southeast Texas, a friend of mine in England called me and offered her
condolences. I live in Houston. I saw the streak on the near horizon.
Didn't know what it was. When she called is when I learned what it was.
When someone lets me know there's something important going on, I turn
it on. Hurricanes for instance. Thanks for the concern.

I've been staying out of the discussion, since I suspect you're dealing
with a troll, but wanted to comment that you're not alone. I was completely
unaware of the events of September 11, 2001, until I called a friend at
about 11 am on that day; I have never seen any of the video footage of that
day, and I don't want to.
However, once I was aware of it, there was plenty of information
immediately available both on the radio and on the Internet.
I grew up without a TV in the house - my parents deliberately chose not to
have one - and still don't watch it in my home. I do own a TV set, but it
only functions as a monitor for my DVD & VHS players and my video camera.
My S.O. has cable, and since it's available I watch at his house, but given
the choice, I wouldn't have it. I prefer to have my visual entertainment
completely under my control, and NOT to be bombarded with nonsensical
commercials.

I have 164 DVD movies, gave my collection of VHS tapes to one of my
kids. I hate commercials too. And so called 'reality TV', and soaps. I
do Like SciFi/Fantasy. There's cable here too, but that too is 'out
of control'. DVD's aren't =)
